2. Have the perfect family

Ok, this target may take some time to achieve and also, you may be thinking, be something that everyone aspires to, but I have put it here to ensure that we don't just let things happen if we don't want them to.

What I mean by having the perfect family isn't just about saying we want one son and one daughter, with the son the eldest etc as that is impossible to plan for, but it's about being ready to have children as and when we want them, taking into account what gender we have at each point, ensuring the gap between the ages are what we would hope for them to be, and to enjoy every minute as a family, setting a good example to our children.

We know at this point, firstly that we are expecting our first child. This was planned and we are both thoroughly looking forward to it. We also know that we want more than one child but the total hasn't been given a great deal of thought just yet. We'll have to see how life pans out for us before deciding where and when to take the next step. We also know that we want at least one of each. I couldn't bare not to have a son, Milly certainly needs her little daughter, and I too would be devastated if I didn't have a little girl too. So to start with that's the plan.

I could tick this off now really as we're perfect as a two-some, will be perfect when the little one arrives, circa September 2011, and will remain perfect with every addition afterwards. But by having this as a target, it ensures we do consider how we develop as a family, just so that it happens as we want it too.
